New Balance Mens Fresh Foam Zante v3 Running Shoe

New Balance Zante V3 Review: A Fresh Shoe For Every Runner

Finding the perfect running shoes can be such a pain in the heel! As an avid runner, you know how difficult it is, that's why you probably landed on a New Balance Zante V3 review.

The last thing you want when you go out for a run is blistered feet and pinched toes. Finding the best shoes is absolutely imperative if you want to actually enjoy a run.

So the question is, will this New Balance Zante V3 review prove the shoe to be just as versatile?

What Is the New Balance Zante V3?

The latest model in the New Balance Zante line, the V3, does have some slight modifications from its previous two versions. For starters, there is now a 100 percent engineered mesh/synthetic upper sole.

Another change is that there is a slightly modified Fresh Foam insole. New Balance wearers are huge fans of their Fresh Foam. Fresh Foam is engineered for precision comfort and a lightweight feel, making it the ideal running shoes that you can wear for long distances or just to run out to the grocery store.

A couple of other key changes to this version are that it has a reinforced saddle, and more blown rubber has been added to the outsole of the shoes.

Generally, these shoes are very similar to the previous versions, and you will feel the familiarity, but it has a slightly more snug feeling to your foot than the V2. The Zante V3 fits like a glove but also feels extremely light. It almost feels like you don't even have shoes on.

Specifications of the New Balance Zante V3

  • Weight: 8.6 oz
  • Heel height: 26.6 mm
  • Heel cushioning: moderate
  • Forefoot height: 18.6 mm
  • Flexibility: very flexible
  • Terrain: road

  • Normal and wide width options

Construction of the New Balance Zante V3

Construction is important to look at for any shoes that you're buying, but it's especially important to consider for running shoes. The construction of a shoe tells you how the shoes are going to fit and if it will be the right one for you.

Upper construction

The New Balance Zante V3 features a bootie-style construction, which gives more of a snug fit. This design also tends to cut down on rubbing, although some people who wore these shoes did find rubbing in some areas.

The upper of the Zante V3 is an engineered mesh and is almost entirely no-sew. There is also an additional flex in the forefoot due to a hinge point in the upper.

Midsole construction

The midsole of the New Balance Zante V3 is made entirely of ethyl vinyl acetate (EVA). This provides a good amount of cushion, although many wearers of these shoes say that the cushioning is minimal when compared to its previous version. However, the Fresh Foam does provide a decent amount of it.

Outsole construction

These shoes have a full-blown rubber outsole, so the contact points are throughout the entire length of the outsole. This will give you much better traction and control.

New Balance Zante V3 review from customers

To help you get a better understanding of how customers have felt about the shoes, we have taken a good look at the New Balance Zante V3 review section on Amazon, both the good and bad, so that you can get a better understanding from people who have actually tested out the shoes. We only took a look at reviews from Verified Purchasers.

Overall, runners are a fan of the shoes, saying things such as they are light and speedy, with a good amount of wiggle room. They see the shoes as being perfect for a half-marathon, as they are comfortable and cushioned.

However, some customers who gave a New Balance Zante V3 review say that they could never wear them to train for a full marathon, as they aren't cushioned enough for that.

Some other issues customers are having in the New Balance Zante V3 review section are that they feel stiff and that certain parts of the shoes rub against their foot in an uncomfortable way.

The Zante V3 also earned the Editor's Choice Award from Runner's World.

How Does the Zante V3 Compare?

If you're looking to get an idea of how the New Balance Zante V3 review compares to reviews of other shoes on the market, maybe some that you already own, we decided to do a little research on a few other shoes that have similar claims and specifications.

We also compared them against the previous version of the shoes, the New Balance Zante V2. The 3 competing shoes that we will be taking a look at are: Reebok Fast Flexweave, Asics FuzeX Lyte 2, and Nike Flex Experience RN 7.

How we reviewed

To give you a better idea of how we performed our research for the competing brands, we took a deep look into some Amazon reviews from Verified Purchasers of each shoe. That will give you a better idea of how people who actually bought the shoes truly feel about them, and how the shoes perform day-to-day.

We also took a look at specifications for each pair of shoes on expert websites, such as Runner's World and RunReport, to be able to truly compare the shoes to the Zante V3.

First, it's very important to compare the New Balance Zante V3 with its predecessor, the Zante V2. If you aren't familiar with the line, New Balance originally launched the first version, which is the Fresh Foam Zante.

Shortly after that, the shoes developed such a cult-like following, that New Balance released a second version: the New Balance Zante V2.

The New Balance Zante V3 has much more in common with the V2 than it does with the first version, which is why we're comparing these two. If you already own and love the V2, then what would make you want to buy the V3?

The ride of the V3 feels very similar to that of the V2. However, the V3 is slightly firmer. That may turn you off from the shoes, but some runners love that, especially because they can be broken in -- which is half the fun of new shoes!

Also, the Flexweave only comes in a normal width, with no wide option offered. All of the other specs are almost exactly the same.

Customers say that the Reebok is very skinny, extremely comfortable, has little arch support, and not much cushioning. If you're looking for an option for a wider foot, and want something that has some extra cushioning, go with the New Balance Zante V3.

The Asics FuzeX Lyte 2 does have some slight differences in terms of specs when compared with the New Balance Zante V3.

The forefoot height in the Asics brand is only 12 millimeters, whereas the New Balance shoes are 17 millimeters. There are also small differences in the heel to toe drop and the heel height.

Customers say that these Asics shoes are lightweight, the bottom sole is poorly designed and gets gravel stuck inside, they are extremely cushioned and comfortable.

If you're looking for something lightweight and cushioned, you could really go with either pair of shoes, but the Asics does have a design flaw.

If you're going to be running on gravel roads, stick with the New Balance.

Again, the Nike Flex Experience RN 7 is extremely similar to the Zante V3. The only true difference is that the Nike sneakers are slightly heavier -- 0.3 ounces heavier, to be exact.

Customers have said that these shoes are not comfortable, work well for a casual pair of shoes, and are very squeaky and loud. If you're looking for a more everyday pair of shoes, the Nikes could be an option to look at.

However, if you're a true daily runner, you'll want to choose the Zante V3.

Customers have said that the Adizeros are perfect for fast training and great for long distances. However, they say you may need to size up with these shoes, and that some later versions of the Adizero are much better.

Overall, if you run long distances and full-marathons, then you may want to go with the Adidas Adizero -- just make sure to size up. The Adidas also would be a better choice if you need high arch support.

If you're simply an average daily runner, then you may want to go with the New Balance Zante. You'll save some money that way, and get just as great of shoes

Complete New Balance Zante V3 Review: Our Final Verdict

These shoes are extremely lightweight and comfortable and are good for your every day casual pair of shoes, or for running daily. The only issue is that they won't be good if you do a lot of long-distance running, like full marathons

We recommend these shoes to someone who runs short-distances daily, such as half-marathons or lower. We do not recommend them if you regularly train for full-marathons.

This New Balance Zante V3 review proves that they are a versatile pair of shoes for the average runner or anyone who just likes to wear sneakers while out and about in their daily life.
